Death/Access Procedure

In plain English: what an account holder sets up in advance, and how someone can request access after their death.

What the account holder sets up

While using Legacy Lock, the account holder decides what is stored in their vault, who each item is intended for, and what instructions should apply after their death. Nothing is shared while they are alive unless they choose to share it.

How someone requests access after a death

  1. Contact us at [[access email]] with the account holder's full name and your relationship to them.
  2. Verify your own identity (photo ID and proof of address).
  3. Provide supporting documents — a death certificate, and where relevant a grant of probate, letters of administration or a Lasting Power of Attorney.
  4. We review the account holder's own instructions held in the vault.
  5. We release only what those instructions permit, and only where we are lawfully able to do so.

Disputes

If a request is refused, or if family members disagree about access, you may ask us to review the decision in writing. We may decline to release information where instructions are unclear, where documents are incomplete, or where a legal dispute is ongoing, until the matter is resolved.
